I was playing with a friend in Medusa's lair when it wouldn't let us continue to the next area even after we killed all of the enemies. I exited to the map and my friend had to leave. I created a new game and a random person joined. When the map popped up, the area after Medusa's lair was unlocked. Kinda weird but I continued with the other dude to the end of the game. After the credits rolled and we fought for the princess, he unlocked the fire demon thing, while I got nothing. I thought it was because Medusa's lair was skipped. I killed Medusa for the first time and still no trophy or character. I don't want to play from Medusa's lair again. Please advise. (PSN)

I advise you play from Medusa's lair again and be thankful you can play online at all.

Yup, you can't skip any levels if you want to unlock the characters.
