The art style definitely looks like it was inspired by BBT, but the gameplay itself seems to be fairly original.I dunno if this is a copy or not.
But i like how they are going to release it this month

Look on the bright side. This might keep others satisfied until BBT comes out. It's also great to use for practice since they have a few similarities. What the heck?! Do they not know about BBT or was this a blatant style ripoff?

they play super different and i feel like they look different, too.
I agree with Dan. This may look like the style. But, does not have the same control scheme at all. This looks to be a completely different game.

It's based off Minecraft.at 0:28 is that a creeper?
So, in a way, it's the love child of Minecraft and BattleBlock Theater. You can't possibly go wrong there.

When we started the game dev last January, our intention was to make a mash-up between Tetris and Minecraft (without copying these games, of course). We made a rapid proto that was really 2D, but it didn't work : the game was really too flat to represent a "block" aspect. So we decided to make it more isometric so it can match our first intention.
So even if I'm a big fan of The Behemoth games (hi Dan), I can assure you we didn't intend to copy the aesthetics of Castle Crashers or BattleBlock Theater. Except one thing : the fact that the character robot doesn't have the same "perspective" than the world. That's all.
I can see why people can see similarities between BTM and BBT but, frankly, the two games have nothing in common in term of gameplay, story, humour or whatever, and even the art style feels quite different to me.
If you read our blog, follow our work on Twitter or if you try our game, you will see that we are very honest and passionated people. I hope you'll understand my message.
By the way, we sent a mail and review code to The Behemoth using the games(@t)thebehemoth(d.t)com mail adress found on the website, so I hope you'll be able to try the game and gave us feedbacks

I get what you mean, if people started to spread the word around the web about something like you copy or whatever it could get annoying.Well, the last thing I want is to see our games "misunderstood" by players and other game devs so... Yes, I had to come here to clarify and say how much we respect the work of other devs
On another note, is your game coming for the "indie games channel" or just regular xbla?
EDIT: Nvm i just re watched the trailer and it says indies games, sucks that the channel is not available here

Anyways, I'll definitely pick up your game when it comes over to PC. By any slim chance, are you going to Comic Con this year?

Well, I can see a connection between the art of BTM and BBT cause we use the same isometric view with handmade cartoony characters but :
1 - I have clearly not the talent of Dan
2 - From what I've seen about BBT, they use a lot of blocks with only one color to clarify the game scene, BTM use more "texture-like" blocks
So I think it's easier to distinguish Blocks That Matter and BattleBlock Theater than Call of Duty and Medal of Honor, or PES and FIFA
Sorry but I will not be at Comic Con this year cause we're both french and poor.
