Sad but true. You've got to be careful with who and what you support. Things are often more dubious than they appear.KONY = UN/HOLLYWOOD Propaganda to invade ANOTHER African Country...Its BS! Dont fall for it.You want another Blackhawk Down Somalia?

- To gain resources that we don't have in the USA for tech things, such as cellular phones (we already do this, and others have done this)
- The "white man's burden", believing that we are the great heros that free those who are helpless (which is rather bigoted and high-and-mighty)
Think about it. Why hasn't Uganda already done something? Perhaps their government is benefiting too? There's so much more than what's at the surface level. What we really should be going after are the people who exploit these countries, a-la, governments. The United Nations, perhaps?
---
Am I saying we should leave Kony alone? Oh hell no. He deserves a life sentence.
Am I saying that there are other factors playing in this? Oh hell yes I am. Kony is a thug. The governments are the gangsters that get what they want.

Actually I think that if this video wasn't made then nothing mainstream would be done. Now if something is done it'll be more like a show to say "We've helped the people" Which pretty much means that the leader is taken out or at least searched for, someone gives a statement about it everyone stops caring and everyone who supported this thinks their a hero, or at least a good person.Quite really, the issue is, the only reasons the USA would be supporting this would be:
- To gain resources that we don't have in the USA for tech things, such as cellular phones (we already do this, and others have done this)
- The "white man's burden", believing that we are the great heros that free those who are helpless (which is rather bigoted and high-and-mighty)

Honestly with this video things may have be even worse this country. What this video has done is:
A.) Made this a mainstream issue, which is pretty much a news fad and once all the hype dies nobody will care about it anymore. This means at best in a greatest scenario situation they'll be a seemingly big movement for it, the hype dies the aid slowly goes away and the country is left to pick up the pieces.
B.) Made the rebels seem nothing but evil and the government nothing but good. Western culture (Americas and Europe) have this black and white sense of good and evil. It's apparent that there must be one good and one evil and as little gray as possible. This is very rarely the case in reality though. I don't support the methods nor tactics of the rebels, but they're rebelling for a reason. They have a corrupt government there. Like Otto said, there's concentration camps, millions of murders, etc. all coming from the government. And what's even worse is that it's not even mentioned in this video. You know what, I think I'll call it propaganda, because that's what it truly is, propaganda. And much like all propaganda, it tells one side, one story, and doesn't look at the whole picture because it hurts the cause the propaganda is trying to make. I'm not saying the rebels are right nor am I saying we should do nothing, but simply saying everything the rebels do, say, and believe is in wrong, will hurt the people more than it will help them in the long run.
C.) Give a quick simple solution. The old saying that the best solution is usually this easiest just doesn't fly when it comes to issues like this. Saying we need to take out the leader-and thus the rebels- and everything will be fine is not something that will work in reality. It's not like this is the first African country to be in the exact same position. It's happened at least a dozen times before and the same thing happens whenever the rebels are taken out or take out the government. If the rebels are taken out then the government becomes even worse and more cruel and the people are hurt even more. If the rebels win those who don't support the rebels are treated horribly, maybe something like 4th class citizens. Either way the situation gets worse for those who live in the country.
This is a complicated issue, simply saying "Kill this guy to help the Africans" will not work.
I think the guy who made it had a sincere care for the people, and believed that this was the right thing to do, but ultimately it will probably do more harm them good.
That's my take on it anyways.

They've covered Kony for years.
We've always known about Kony for years, but now we start to give a damn?
I've heard more people mentioning Kony in a single day than I have in the last.... well my entire lifetime.
What truly sickens me is not just Kony's actions, but how people today can proclaim that they know about Kony's strategies, his ambition as if they know all about the subject.

I do find it insane how blown up it got in such a short period of time. It would be a credible video had the creator not bend facts beyond recognition.I hated KONY 2012 before it was cool

BONY 2012
But seriously, while everything that Kony has done is horrible, I hate how everyone has gone bandwagon on this. Now suddenly everyone knows 'everything' about it because they watched a silly little 30 minute video.

Besides, why would you want to intervene in Uganda and potentially compromise the development of their fabulous movies?

If i made a video about how corrupt the canadian government is and the conservatives and their election fraud would you give me 10 million dollars?
