Facebook: Good Or Bad?

K, well there are good things to facebook. such as chat to your friends wherever they are. and these chats are private, but facebook is an easy to hack website. such as find others peoples passwords.
Ok, so this morning i was on facebook and i got a friend request, from some random person. i asked who you were and she said"reilly", so im like why did you add me? i dont even know you. and she said "you added me though" and i was wondering no i didnt?
Then i asked how old she was and she said im 11, so im like aren't you to young to have facebook? there can be bad stuff on here... so she started talking about a story about how her friend broke her arm... and then she started swearing at me. Literally, a 11 year old that says stuff that should be 18+? like where does she learn all this. i asked how she learned all the words and she said everyone at her school swears. its like oh my gosh are you serious?
Ok, next story. I heard that people from other places (such as europe) can look at your photos and see where they were taken and who took it. that is pretty scary. BUT there are privacy setting to adjust your photos to only friends can see it, or you can choose who sees it. but there could be so much hackers in the world that could get around this *fire wall* and search you. (so called creepers).
So simple question. is facebook good or bad? tell the reason why please.

And I agree, Europe is a terrible place and these smelly europeans shouldn't be able to do as much as click your profile. That'll teach'em.

Just kidding. But you shouldn't call him sheltered. It's true, kids at that age should not be using that kind of language. BUT that doesn't meen she learned it from Facebook. I had a Facebook when I was 11. I didn't see many bad things.

Let's not get offtopic and talk about Europe.
That's what making new posts in the Random Post Thread is for.
As for facebook, it's more than just a website where one can share feelings, it's more of a virtual hangout area for those who don't hang out outside.

Wow. 11 is too young for cursing in your standards? They're just words, man. I knew as many curses as a scottish boatman when I was that age.
And if you didn't see anything "bad" on facebook, then you probably had equally sheltered people as friends. All of the content is user-contributed, so there HAS to be one or two times where someone's gonna post pictures of their bum, or pictures of parties with people barfing, or whatever.
Facebook being facebook, there's a buttload of drama going on at all time. Sometimes I join it just to win an argument, because people on facebook generally suck at arguing.

i know him well, i associate with him sometimes, i probably don't hate him, but i sure as hell don't like him, and i acknowledge his importance to other people, but it gets real awkward if it comes down to just us two

I used to use Mixi (Japan's version of Facebook) instead since I was mainly using it to communicate with my Japanese friends, but they started doing the same stuff as Facebook so I stopped using it.
I've never been to fond of having people I barely know (although some people accept people they don't even know, don't they?) be able to communicate with me and look at my profile/pics/etc. either. I think if I got back into Facebook, I would only have like 16 friends because I would only accept people who I'm friends with in real life lol.

You, sir, are a revolutionary man. After seeing about 10 minutes of The Social Network today, I believe the founder of Facebook is a total badass and that alone makes the site totally awesome. Plus, when I post something and someone likes or comments on it, it makes me feel special

It invades your privacy and distributes your information to third-party corporations.
Other than that, I guess it's a nice way to communicate and engage in some sort of social activities.

I don't post anything about my actual self on Facebook, but having personal information posted on it is unavoidable. People post pictures of me ALL THE TIME, and EVERY SINGLE TIME I have to request deletion of it. But nobody listens.

Facebook sells personal information, and that's something I am absolutely NOT OKAY with.

That has to do with you being way too handsome I'm afraid.
I don't care about my own personal info. I guess I have nothing to hide, and I don't even look at the ads facebook links me to. I think I'm at a point of no return for distribution of my personal info.

Nearly everyone cursed at my old school, but I was always and still am the odd one out, and I still don't swear (often) because I don't really see the point.
Ummm...what?
