So apparently there's not movie thread. So I made one.

Post movies you liked and movies you want others to see.

»Gridiron Gang - Football movie, which a lot of you probably won't enjoy. Based on true events of a coach that forms a football team to rehabilitate juvenile delinquents and give them a second chance at life. Depressing, relatable, and inspirational.

»The Warriors (1979) - Movie about New York street gangs bound to meet up and form a massive, single gang under the rule of Cyrus. Cyrus is killed during the meeting and the Warriors, a smaller gang from Coney Island, are blamed for the murder. Now they have to make it all the way back to Coney Island with every other gang aiming to stop them.

»The Dark Knight - You've already seen it. Batman fights Joker, Joker has all of Gotham in the palm of his hand while Batman and Harvey Dent try to bring him down. Etc. etc.

»Scott Pilgrim VS. The World - You all probably know it by now, but... Scott Pilgrim is a 22 year-old in Toronto, Canada. He meets a girl named Ramona Flowers, which he admires, but to be with her he must defeat her seven evil exes. Full of comedy that I tend to quote with my friends and I've seen it more times than I can recount. Full of classic video game references, which I'm sure you'd all love.

»21 Jump Street - Really did not expect I'd love this movie so much. A throwback to old TV show of the same name, two high school graduates (one popular, one... not so popular) join the police force. Two people who once hated each other are now the best of friends and after screwing up their first arrest, are sent into the Jump Street division. Now they must disguise themselves as high school students and bust a drug operation that is spreading throughout the school.

  • Mary and Max: A story with incredible characters, in which the plot revolves around writing to distant people you barely know.Probably the best clay animation I have seen in my entire life, and I HAVE seen the pirates movie, the Wallace and Gromit series, as well as chicken run, if that helps emphasize how good Mary and Max is. It touched me on a personal level, since I spent a good part of my life talking to strangers.
  • Drive: Everything's good in Drive. The soundtrack, the characters, the plot. Everything just works. It's not incredible, but it's really fine.
  • Watchmen: Great soundtrack. Visually impressive, too. While I can't congratulate Zack Snyder on writing the plot, since he didn't, it's still a very nice movie, with a crew of cherry-picked actors.
  • Léon: Jean Reno's inclination for playing assassin roles is once again showing. A breathtaking movie until the last minute; the guy in the role of the vilain is just fantastic at what he does.
  • Hot Fuzz: A nice comedy, which ends up showing some unexpected depth. The villagers' personalities are really where the writing shines. Ended up having some really nice action scenes.
  • The dictator: Even taken out of context, this gem hasn't lost any of its meaning; Some incredible, sometimes far-fetched humor. I am still amazed at how awe-inspiring the end speech is.

French tier: (I wish I could  translate these for you, but it would take very long):

  • La stratégie de l'échec: An educational movie teaching you how to fail miserably at obtaining and keeping a job; and on a different scale, failing at life. A movie that inspired me a lot.
  • La classe américaine: Bits taken out of different american movies and dubbed over to create a coherent, hilarious, new movie. With John wayne (georges abidbol) as the main character. The best case of repetition humor taken to an extreme whilst staying fun. The morale of the story is absurd and out of place, which is very representative of american movies of the time.

I'm on this new fangled tablet thing and don't know how to make new paragraphs so just deal with it, bro. Django Unchained. Castle of Cagliostro. That's enough for now.

It was ok.  They had the rights to show characters from all types of games. Mario, Sonic, & Street Fighter to name a few. But he leaves his game and basically goes to 2 games. The first one he goes to has the medal he is looking for. Then the second game is where the rest of the story takes place.  I was really thinking it would take him a while to get what he was looking for.
It was ok. It had such great potential. I did think it was funny and the dialogue was pretty good. But the whole premise and story could have been so much better.

Here are a few more for the story and stuff (the ones above are included in this):

All the Studio Ghibli (I should have counted The Castle of Cagliostro in this)

Black Dynamite

Drive

Shaun of the Dead

Inglorious Basterds

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (mock if you want, it's better than it looks)

Donny Darko

The End of Evangelion

Favourite movie soundtracks:

Django Unchained

Inglorious Basterds

Castle of Cagliostro

This is the point that I realised that most of my favourite soundtracks are from the first list.

I have way too many favorite movies...I'll name off a few I suppose.

Dumb and Dumber - Always loved this movie ever since I was a kid.

Home Alone 1 & 2 - Same as above.

Die Hard Series - Just good old fashion action/comedy.

Thinking again about Dumb and Dumber, just include every other movie I've seen with Jim Carrey in it.

Saw The Hobbit, it was really good, so I'll put that on there.

The entire Saw Series - I love the story in the series (yes, there is one).

Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny - Nuff said.

Ummm no. The movie was way after Jack Black was in movies.  Tenacious D - the music was also helpful for him. But not the movie.

Not sure if anyone is enough of a cinemaphile to enjoy this one, but 3 Iron is a really good movie that I saw recently. I only give it a 4/5 thought because of it's poor ending. The movie is great experience until then though and even then the ending is done very well.

The tenacious d movie is excellent. Especially that part where à demon coerces the two friends into playing the best song in the world.

So that's why they made that song called "Tribute" or something.

I've got to say that Scott Pilgrim vs The World is one of my favorite movies. I'd say one of the worse thing about the movie though is just how subtle everything is. I think to really really understan everything about how great the movie is, you need to know the books, know something about cinematography, and watch the extra to really see how mush there is to the movie.

Seeing all the suits in Iron Man 3 was worth the cost of admission alone. They did some stuff with the villain(s) that I wasn't fond of, but it was really funny and a good movie. Go watch that one.
