Do you think if the aliens looked like giant spiders (4 ft tall, 3ft across) and they came to Earth asking for an alliance and wanted to rome the Earth/share technology (things like that,) that they would be accepted in society?

Sorry, but that was my reaction. Anyway, no, instead of being accepted, they would be captured and tested by the governments OBAMA which would lead to a war between spiders and people.

The average human hates that which is unknown to them, and will sometimes try to destroy it.
Sure, there may be some actually willing to become allied, but because of the idiodicy of the masses, there'd be some sort of war.
Eventually ending in one side being destroyed, or allying to defeat another alien species, or one side allying with that species to destroy the other.
It's sad, really.
And it's not just actual aliens either. "Foreign People" are often disliked, because they're different.
And if the tiny differences make them hated, how do you think an alien species would be treated?

The second one would be much better, but harder to achieve.A lot of the religious people would probably throw a fit, and the Government would probably either capture them for experimentation and interrogation, or they would try to make peace. (The second one is much, much less likely.)
And if it was to happen, then how would the religious people act?
Would they try making the aliens Christians?

I'm trying hard not to laugh.Would they try making the aliens Christians?
If aliens do happen to appear on Earth, lets hope they meet the smarter people first. Humanity is blind to see that strangers could come simply to meet us, or request something. If they end up our enemies, and that would pose some problems.
But then again, they could want to destroy us or something. Then what?
On another topic, what do you think they'd be like? Their looks? Language? Size? Personality?
And for all we know, there could be thousands of invisible microscopic aliens watching us right now.

Really, I would actually love to make an alliance with any aliens no matter what they look like.

Ya I know, there are endless possibilities to how an alien could look. I was just using spiders to say "what if aliens were really nasty looking to us?"If there are aliens we probably could'nt concieve anything that is remotely close to how an alien would look like.

Avalid point... but seeing how we might be the only other intelegent life form within how ever many billions of lightyears within their possibility they would come to us in hopes of recieving more advanced technology. Afterall thats what some people here might think of it as. "they might havemore advanced stuff then we do so we can use that to advance faster" They might have similar thinking....Any alein in their right mind would avoid earth. Why the hell would they want to come here?

If aliens are in another galaxy, then there's no possible way to reach our galaxy unless they live thousands of years.
Even traveling at the speed of light, it would take well over the average life span to reach another galaxy.

Plus they'd take one look at Earth and say "These idiots don't know what they're doing."Although aliens would probably never be accepted, I doubt that they'll ever actually reach Earth either.
