  9. Written by Erin Coop Feature: Monde 1-1 by Kohana Difficulty: Beginner A walk in the laser and buzzsaw filled park. Playlists of this difficulty will be a smooth experience with interesting ideas more than relentless challenge. These will generally be easier than the original Story mode campaign. You know, Mr. Furbottom always intended his theater to be a family affair. No really! Back in his day, before the weapons and prisoners moved in, BattleBlock Theater was a place where moms, dads, sisters and brothers could all enjoy some acrobatic theatrics. And while the life of a cat is short and not terribly nostalgic, Kohana has created a playlist that harkens back to those good old days of yore. Yore what? You'll find out! Oh, okay... here are some screenshots to tide you over. One of the other nice things about playing coop levels that are less likely to frustrate you is the freedom it gives you to frustrate each other! Arm yourself appropriately for all future engagements by bringing with you this upsetting fellow... Oh! And there might have also been something about a certain Castle Crashing game having an anniversary last week, or that a grand Remastering of said game is making news later this day... Intriguing! [Featured Playlist 4 September 2015]

  14. Winston is back in BattleBlock Theater! Finish the Furbottom's Features to unlock him as your reward. The Solo Features were just updated last Friday, December 9, 2016! 16. Written by Mason You can never judge a book by its cover and sometimes a playlist will defy a negative bias, becoming a fun surprise for Furbottom's Features. When expectations are exceeded it helps you see the world in a brand new way. Presumption goes kablooey in this week's playlist. Solo Feature my_playlist1 by XxRINaRo87xX Difficulty: Expert Expert difficulty playlists will be challenges even for BattleBlock veterans. These levels are put together with no regard for the safety of your prisoner. Innovative and deadly exercises await inside these demanding levels. Doubly so on Insane Mode! *A special note regarding Prisoner unlocks: Remember you can complete either Story mode Furbottom’s Feature to unlock this week’s featured Prisoner. If the Solo Feature is too hard, try Co-Op and vice versa! You can even recomplete current Feature’s you have already played! I don't think we've ever featured a playlist using the Zig-Zag layout (I'm sure you'll correct me if I'm wrong!). This design, while an efficient use of space, is hard to make work without it feeling repetitive, cramped and lacking variety. Enter the modestly named my_playlist1 and this difficult to execute arrangement is pulled off incredibly well throughout, with great puzzles and why-didn't-I-think-of-that moments sprinkled on top. This playlist also has an almost perfect difficulty curve. This first stage is simple as can be, belying the crazy contraptions about to befall your prisoner. Each stage's difficulty builds on the last leaving you ready to detonate by the Finales. Behold, the face of wisdom! Hooshmand has seen things. Terrible things. Play this week's feature and you can also see terrible things, but at least you'll get to hang out with Hooshmand in the process! [Featured Playlists 17 APR 2015]
  17. [Written by Erin] It's a well known fact that red and blue have had a rough history with one another, starting with the Chroma Wars of 1612. Thankfully, the two troublesome tints have since found a better way to express their monochromatic angst... blood sports! Arena Feature Red vs Blue by Brutal Berserk Whether you're a red-blooded man or a blue-blooded lady, there's a lot to love in this weeks mix of the ever-popular Ball and King arena modes. "Prison Ball" starts things off with a tightly paced arrangement that allows players to take shots from a variety of lava-launched angles, followed by my favorite King level of the playlist: "Torero Party". Imagine a game of chicken, on a Slip'N Slide, with a deadly man-eating monster in the very middle. Fun! Later on, we have some King blocks on the side of some kind of industrial mulcher/drowning machine, and "Garbage City" is your typical cramped tunnel of doom, but Mr. Berserk keeps things interesting thanks to some well placed lava and gum blocks. And finally, in a move that I'd like to see in more arena playlists, the final level is just an opportunity to say "to heck with the rules!!" and beat each other up. If you and yours are like my bestest besties and I, you need that sort of thing every so often. Let's all enjoy some screenshots while we contemplate the inherent violence of man! Did you know that earlier this week was Puppy Day? It was and you probably missed it! But today is nothing, and in honor of that comes a prisoner who represents nothing at all: Meebs! My man Meebs is adorable, despite having huge eyesockets instead of huge eyes. You'd think that would make a bigger difference. Huh. [Featured Arena Playlist 27-MARCH-2015]
  18. [Note: This solo playlist was originally featured on November 28th, 2014, but we took it down early when we featured the Monster Playlists. We want to make sure to give players another 2 weeks to play it, so here it is again! Previous progress was not saved, so you would need to play to the end if you are looking to unlock the new special unlock.] Original post written by Mason (Nov 28, 2014) Happy Furbottom’s Friday everyone! Our creator is having his second go round here in the Features. Signature insane physics based hazards and push-block shenanigans are ready and waiting in full force for this week’s playlist. For this one, the creator really pushes the edges of the game’s mechanics, requiring expert handling of your controller to continue. These challenges can appear complex, but they remain fair and, better yet, fun! Solo Playlist GiganticBlock by QuirkyTurky Difficulty -Expert: Expert difficulty playlists will be challenges even for BattleBlock veterans. There are creative uses of all kinds of tools and blocks in this playlist. Wings, boulders, trigger blocks and gum blocks must all be mastered simultaneously in order to carry on. It pays to stop and smell the roses, or better yet, smell where all the grenades and lasers are coming from before proceeding. What do you mean you can’t smell lasers? Well, the grenades will have to do then. You can’t smell grenades either? Hmmm--this is going to be more difficult than I thought. The Thief robs the spotlight this week. Finish Furbottom's Features solo or co-op playlist to capture this bold bandit. [solo Feature Nov 28 2014 & 1/9/2015]
  19. (Written by Erin) There's a reason that most sports keep their courts nice and sportsmanly, clear and predictable: they lack imagination! I mean, you guys drawing those white lines in the grass, why not learn to live a little! Maybe add a squiggle now and then, or drop a litter of cats on the field. Perhaps a rocket launching robot or two. Stretch your arms a bit and see where your inspiration takes you! To jail, probably. But don't let that stop you, we've got some great accomodations here at Battleblock Theater! Even better, you may get to meet this week's Furbottom Feature winner and we think you guys might have a lot in common... Arena Feature: Basketbrawl by rpvarela See, rpvarela isn't afraid to take an old fashioned ball court and just FLOOD the heck out of it. But hey, look at all the floating fuzzy bears to help you! And sure, you might be trapped in a box with a killer robot and but look at that giant raccoon to hide in! Hm. If you do make it out to the stands, our hotdog vendors may be out of hotdogs this week, but we've replaced them with a delicious new treat! Brand-spanking new and available only on Steam, this little performer is set to play a breakout role in The Behemoth's yet-to-be-titled Game 4! Are you excited? I am excited!! ...or that could just be the sugar-high from all those cupcakes I ate earlier. Why are you adorable jerks so delicious?? [30-Jan-2015]
  20. Hey guys, look what I found! Coop Feature: Fun co-op v.2 by reridse I love it when we not only see coop playlists with some bona fide, A-grade coop, but when the playlist is stuffed to its theatrical gills with ideas I wish I'd come up with first! reridse has created some sequences that will challenge you and your partner in ways you'd probably never expected, including some of the most nefarious applications of toast I've had the pleasure of witnessing. Fresh and never dull, here are some highlights from early on in the playlist... Finally, as a reward for going head on into these challenges, we give you Blocketeer! Now you can jet through more BBT levels with this special prisoner! And when you sign in to BattleBlock Theater and hit up an online feature, you'll also be unlocking Moose! [Coop Playlist 25-July-2014]
  21. (Written by Aaron) Football (or Soccer, I 'spose) may be all the rage on some of the larger continents out there, but here on the Isle of The Behemoth, we are a bit more captivated with an alternative that is both cuter and more deadly: Footbasket! Featured Arena: Footbasket by Bloofus Just in time for the July 16th BattleBlock Theater Ball Game Tournament (viewable at Twitch.TV!), Bloofus' foot-focused opus is full of fun and original takes on the classic "Ball Game". Don't be scared off by some of the more death-laden courts found early in the playlist; as things progress, the path to the basket will become complicated by everything from rocket packs to fluffy ferdinands. With so much stage magic going on, you may find yourself scoring less often, but each score you do make will really and truly count! And now a sneak peek behind the curtain! Finally, in lieu of real food and fireworks, we're celebrating this Fourth of July weekend with some Sausage and Boom! Happy Independence Day!
  22. (Written by Aaron) Featured Arena: IDK by Absorbing Beatle Absorbing Beatle may not know what they have, but we certainly do: this week's Arena Feature! Ball game is one of those arena types that often benefits from a simpler and balanced layout, as the mode itself has enough nuance to keep things interesting. IDK embraces this level playing field, but isn't afraid to mix it up; note the key use of puzzle blocks, rewarding players who can truly keep their head in the game! Here are some ideas of what lies ahead: Finally, in lieu of real food and fireworks, we're celebrating this Fourth of July weekend with some Sausage and Boom! [Featured Arena 4-July-2014]

  24. Reminder: The Furbottom's Features will remain the same until the end of the year, so you'll have all winter break to get the Monster! Originally posted 12/12/2014 Prepare Yourself for a Momentous Performance! Just about any BattleBlock Theater regular can tell you that each and every week we uphold a tradition first put in place by the great P.Furbottom, something we fittingly call, “Furbottom’s Features”. We choose one playwright from the Community Theater and place one of their creations on high as an example of great stage design… or playwriting…or level design–really, whatever you want to call it. It’s a really great thing that we love to do, where everybody wins and has fun and is happy. But, uh, this week we aren’t doing that. Instead, as a gift we made especially just for everybody, we would like to present two playlists from The Behemoth… now on Steam for the first time! Featured Solo/Coop Playlists: “MomentumMonster” and “ComentumMonster” by FurryBottom1 (On Steam) Difficulty Level: Expert This is not your mommy’s playlists – this is for the rage in “outrageous”, the ouch in “ouch-this-hurts”. Think hard, play quick, and don’t give up. Above all, remember that victory is that much sweeter when it’s drenched in sweat and tears. But do not be discouraged by the monstrous moniker! (Hard to hear after we built it up so much, huh?) Well, while not quite easy street, the levels found within are far from the most fatal your prisoners could face; those of you who have faced Story Mode might look to Chapters 6 and 7 for a hint. Also, by “Comentum” we actually mean momentum, but we did, like, a thing where the name begins with “Co” instead of “Mo”… so that it sounds more like Cooperation. In case that wasn’t clear. What should be clear is that you can find both playlists in the Community Theater just like previous Furbottom’s Features, and each is full of the gems and yarn we know your heart desires! Which is why you shouldn’t expect a simple, left to right affair either: your prisoner may be asked to think outside of the box, which is tougher than it sounds for someone who is always being forced to live inside of one. Thankfully, the subtlety timed manipulation of triggers and teleporters can save you from the not-so-subtle buzzsaws and explosions. Should you prove fleet enough to defeat either playlists’ finale, a triumphantly tri-horned prisoner will be freed to do your bidding! The special unlock to go with these Monster Playlists has been fittingly dubbed “THE MONSTER.” And you know what, that could totally work out fine for everyone… I don’t know why doing someone’s bidding always has to involve evil. Send your Monster out to fill the world with color in “Color the World” mode, or “Grab the Gold” mode and invest it in your local community. You can also load your Monster down with grenades and make him uppercut everyone he meets in the face. And then we’ll find out who the real monster is, won’t we? Finally, if you’re already feeling intimidated by this playlist then we’ve got a present that should help. Launch BattleBlock Theater to unlock The King from Castle Crashers. Putting a shiny crown on your head will always make things better.
