  1. Hey Fellow Chickens! Yesterday, we revealed some new character customization options for our scrumptious Game 4 Cupcake. As you may have gathered from the post, once you've gained some toppings or frosting flavors, you'll be able to access these items and dress your Cupcake from your House. Here's our most recent layout for the House design: Just for fun, I wanted to get y'all involved in some discussion. What are some changes or additions that you noticed? What did you notice first? You can see previous designs in streams we did with Game 4 gameplay: (October 2014 - Extra Life Charity Stream) \ (August 2014 - PAX Prime 1st Stream of gameplay) Looking forward to what your thoughts are on the new House layout!
  2. Who knew that fungi could be so fashion forward? We certainly didn’t until we started putting bandanas and crowns on our fungal friends in Game 4! It’s time to root for our favorite Mushrooms out on the hex-walk today as they show off their duds and we savor their fragrance. Check out the full post here. TL;DR -Mushrooms fart and they’re wicked poisonous -Mushrooms are strongest against Cupcakes and weakest against mallets/maces -The easiest way to get the accessories you want is by recruiting Tell us what you think about Mushrooms! Would you recruit a Mushroom onto your team?
  3. Codenamed “Game 4,” our in-development game has some new additions since you last saw it on our Raptr Extra Life Charity Stream or since you first saw it at PAX Prime in our first live stream demo of Game 4. We’ve shown you the House with the collection of hairstyles, helmets, and heavy weaponry available for your human heroes. Now we’ve put out a new line of accessories in Game 4! Today, we’ll just give you a taste of what’s to come by showing off one of our units: Cupcakes. If looks could kill, these Cupcakes would be the deadliest unit on the field! (All customizable items are subject to change. Our game is still in development, so we can’t guarantee all choices will make the final cut! Fashion trends are always evolving!) Now you can distinguish your healer by dressing it with a delectable frosting flavor or donning it with a distinctive topping. Here’s Hushpuppy sporting the hottest new trends for the post-apocalyptic galactic tragedy, lemon meringue! (Bonus! Look for the deep sadness in his eyes) The catapult connected to this classy Cupcake is not only chic, it’s practical too. Or maybe that’s impractical? No practical, definitely practical. Up next we have Gluten in the classic vanilla with waffle top look. There’s always a chance Cupcakes won’t heal their target, but that’s ok, because once that scrumptious batter is on the floor then it’s fair game to be picked up by anyone. Finally, Percy here is staying cozy in a raspberry swirl with a fern on top. You work it, Percy! Just like any other accessory in Game 4, these Cupcake specific items could pop up for purchase in the Market (if you already have a cupcake in your team), they could be potentially acquired through loot & rewards, or you could always Recruit a Cupcake in battle if they have the desired gear on their being. Speaking of Recruiting, we’ve alluded to this ability in the game but we haven’t had a chance to show it to you yet. Don’t you worry, my darlings; you’ll be able to see the simplicity of Recruiting in action when we bring Game 4 to PAX East this March! Until then, come back to the blog soon because we’ll be revealing another creatures’ collection of customizables. FASHION SHOW #2! TL;DR *Cupcakes and other creatures are customizable with different loot you find! *More customized character reveals to come!!!!!!!
  4. What’s this?? Game 4 is upon us!! Shortly before the release of BattleBlock Theater we started working on something new. We schemed up a bunch of concepts and picked our strongest one. From there we fleshed out the lone survivor prototype!!! As it grew stronger and stronger, we polished it, furnished it with delights, and added (gluten free?) sprinkles. Yes, as the chicken dictates, this game is of a genre we haven’t covered before and seek to breathe a new flavor into. Maybe you can find a hint in the video below about which genre it is?? What we’ve ended up with is something we are all very proud of. I am confident you’ll get a kick out of this one. So we’ve decided to bring it to PAX Prime — and you can play it! As usual we’ll want your feedback to steer the process. I cannot wait to show you guys what we’ve got! Until that time, please enjoy the introduction video to this grand and mysterious adventure………. Stay tuned for more info at PAX Prime Booth 3003!!! END BRAIN SEQUENCE 0459672-B -Dan Paladin (P.S. We just created a new forum just for Game 4 if you want to start up some discussions!)
  5. What does it mean to be an artist at The Behemoth studio? Our newest artist in the development team, Eric Haddad, will go into detail about his process as an artist who worked on BattleBlock Theater: Introduction Oh, hello internet – I mean, people on the internet. My name is Eric Haddad. I’ve been in the art department at The Behemoth for about two years now. I’ve worked mostly on BattleBlock Theater (BBT) but also provide support for any other art needs for the folks here. Today, I’m here to talk a little bit about the art production on BattleBlock Theater and a little about what it’s like working on a project that isn’t in the same art “style” as I would normally work in. 6. About a year ago we were very lucky to bring in a new member of The Behemoth team to help with BattleBlock Theater development. Derek Lieu first joined us in 2012 to help with our Kickstarter video for the Necromancer figurine. Then we brought him in to change the process for BattleBlock Theater’s cutscene animation. You may also recognize his video editing in the recent trailers for BattleBlock Theater with art by Dan Paladin & Eric Haddad and narration by Will Stamper. Derek has taken some time to share his involvement in the process for the in game cutscenes in BattleBlock Theater (BBT) and his collaboration with Dan & Will, from concept to final product.
