Since E3 Is Over..

And Sony hit it out of the park with the PS4 (which is running x86 like a PC as opposed to custom hardware like Xbone/PS3) what are the odds of BBT, Alien Homonid HD or even a re-release of Castle Crashers w/DLC? I mean the open doors to indie devs combined with not publishing fees AND the easiest platform to develop for has got to have made a difference right? I mean look at those pre-orders..

While the PS4 looks like a big ol' box of awesome for indie devs, The Behemoth still, regardless of publishing fees, is a very small team that (not to be rude to the amazing folk at TB) take FOREVER to get their work done. BattleBlock Theater has a chance to come, but they've already moved on from Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers.

You've also got to keep in mind that Microsoft has always helped The Behemoth publish their games and that their games have consistently sold better on the 360 (aside from obviously the original AH that was only released on GCN and PS2).

But who knows, maybe in the leap to next gen The Behemoth will start releasing all their new content on PS4 as opposed to the One.

Battleblock theater has only been released on 360 so you'll have to disregard that too. and yes castle crashers sold better, but it took 2 years to port it over and unlike me, most people don't buy the same game more than once and it's rather unfair to compare systems while one of them had a 2 year headstart so you might as well disregard castle crashers too, which leaves you with nothing to support that argument.

Also, with microsoft saying that they won't let indies self-publish and the behemoth technically being an indie it also devalues the part where microsoft helped them in the past. So in the end, both ps4 and X1 might have equal chances on being the favored system.

The X1 runs a AMD based x86 architecture, same as the PS4 but downclocked.

This technically means the PS4 has more horsepower than the X1.

Microsoft really ought to change the whole indie self-publishing thing, lest they lose the cool Summer of Arcade thing they've got going.

It's not like TB hasn't had an external publisher before. I remember reading about how they had to look for a publisher that'd publish Alien Hominid. And now that TB's proven themselves to be excellent game developers, most other people would probably want a piece of that cake too.

Though ultimately it's still The Behemoth's call whether or not they want to do this.

Cheers Koen, Roy. That's the sort of hope I needed. :)

I think Sony's problem (aside custom hardware in PS3) was the year late release also. It saw a lot of PS2 users change to MS because no one wanted to wait an extra year for next gen games. That would have offset sales on CC too as well as the late release. Nevertheless, as much as I come off like a Sony fanboy, i'm just a general gamer and love TB games. I plan on picking up a PS4 first at the end of the year so it'd be nice to see Behemoth games come into play and with Sony's free publishing and basically ushering Indie devs in the doors I hope that TB gets on that. If not i'll be coughing up for whatever they release anyways. Still have my AH PS2 copy and will never let it go XD
