I have to say, Pony Island could easily become my favorite game of January 2016. It's honestly a great game. It has a pretty interesting story, the concept is amazing and the puzzles are fun. I strongly reccomend this game to everyone. (And no, the game is hardly actually about ponies.)

AAUUUUUGHHHHHHH

Psychonauts has the weirdest difficulty curve, it only got hard by the later levels in the game. By the time you get to Meat Circus, the final level, the platforming becomes very strict and you either have to be really clever or really skillful to make certain jumps. The first half of Meat Circus seems to be decently difficult, you just have to get some good jumps in before your escort gets the living crap beaten out of them. The second half of Meat circus becomes a lot more penalizing for your jumps, as a single mistake forces you to retry the entire segment. The boss is certainly interesting and I like it a lot, but my only problem is the attack that allows you to perform a counter attack is hard to avoid, and shielding it just cancels the ability to counter attack. On top of that, the hitboxes for his attacks are strange enough to cause a great deal of frustration. However, the final boss is really easy after you get past that part.

For those who are interested in a piece of video game-related David Bowie history (or just free games in general), Omikron: The Nomad Soul, a PC game which David Bowie contributed music and design input for and made several cameo appearances in, is being given away for free via Square Enix's online store.

NA version: https://store.na.square-enix.com/product/281956/omikron-the-nomad-soul-pc-download

EU version: https://store.eu.square-enix.com/emea_europe/games/pc-windows-download/Omikron-The-Nomad-Soul.php

Be sure to use the "omikron" promo code so it's a free purchase

On the topic of free games, Consortium is a first-person sci-fi RPG that's free on Steam but only for this weekend. At the very least it's free XP for your profile if you're into that.

By the way, after playing Undertale, it's definitely my favourite game of last year.

Is it that good? Literally every Youtuber had it as their GoT apart from a couple but it still made it to the top 3. I will be honest the fanbase and the hype kinda put me off.

I heard that getting hyped will make you less like the game, but I never understood why people keep pushing Undertale away because of the fanbase. I see that constantly.

I'd recommend playing it completely blind with no hype or help whatsoever.

It's certainly justified as GOTY 2015 but Yugo's right about the hype; don't expect it to be anywhere near as amazing as people make it out to be. I was lucky to play it a few weeks after it came out, before the fanbase grabbed it and massively overhyped everything about it, and not knowing how much I should expect to like it made the experience better.

If you play it, you can expect a short game with a nice story, a few charming characters, some fun humor, and a good soundtrack, and if it exceeds your expectations then you'll have a much better time with it than if you listened to the crazy people claiming Undertale is the second coming of Christ. There's no reason to not play it because of its fanbase though, you're not going to be subjected to anything dumb or horrible just by playing the game. Easily worth paying $10 for it btw, and that's coming from a guy who almost never pays full retail price for Steam games.

I personally wasn't getting hyped, I saw it on the Steam page when it came out and about a month later literally everyone of the fans were circle jerking acting like it was the best thing since sliced bread. I guess that's why people push Undertale away because of how worked up the fans got over it saying "you have to play it" and everyone bow down to it's awesomeness.

Also did you see when Projared criticised Undertale on Twitter and the fans just exploded with hate saying how he should be burnt at the stake for preaching heresy. The guy who made Undertale had to apologise to Projared because of it.

There's one thing that REEEEEEAAALLY almost ruined Undertale for me, but I got over it. I hadn't been paying attention to any hype before playing it, and the only reason I played it was because my brother said, "Hey it's really good, go play it." I pretty much went in blind and I feel like playing it any other way would make it a lot worse.

Yeah, so, it's probably my tied favourite turn based RPG, next to Pokemon, but it probably isn't in my top ten.

The one thing that made me almost quit was the Ruins, just because it was soooo slow. Good thing I kept going, because the game really picks up after that.

I got really mad when, after everything that has led you to want to be a good person who doesn't kill anybody, even after all that Sans said, Flowey tells you after the game ends "Hey, so, don't kill anybody and you'll get a prize" rather than letting them just do that for themselves.

It probably made me madder than it should have, but whatever.

Is is as slow as the Fade in Dragon Age: Origins if anyone has ever played that game? It is the worst level in the entire game by far the whole Tower of Magi actually.

I didn't really find it that slow, particularly in comparison to other RPGs.

Mighty number 9 has turned into a fricken joke. I swear to god, A JOKE

It's still a thing?

I thought the devs took the money and ran.

I haven't heard a single thing about that game.
